We're Back!!!
WELCOME!
If you're looking for a great
horse at an affordable price, you've come
to the right place. We are centrally located in Oklahoma for easy
access to everyone. We are about 10 miles east of I 35 just off of Rt.
66.
Our main goals here are to give deserving horses second chances and to
help find horse lovers a perfectly matched horse at an affordable
price. We are very different from the everyday horse traders in
countless ways. Some of the important ones being that we deal almost
exclusively with horses that have been starved, neglected, and
sometimes even abused or those that are bound for slaughter and have
absolutely no business being in these situations.
With the changes in horse law, the shutting down of the slaughter
houses here in the US and the current economy, horses have it worse now
than ever. Yes, I said worse. How you might ask? A lot of people not
directly involved in the dirty little secrets of the horse business
think that horses are no longer being slaughtered for human consumption
and shipped overseas... well, the truth is, the only thing that changed
when they passed the law to shut down the slaughter plants here is that
they moved across the borders to Mexico and Canada. The problems here
are not only that more horses have been shipped out of our country to
these unregulated killer plants, but that there is no laws on how they
treat and kill the horses that find themselves here. Horses are being
slaughtered inhumanely and even being processed while still conscious
and alive (don't believe me? Visit youtube.com and see how many videos
you can watch about horse slaughter before getting sick). Slaughter is
a terrible fact of the horse industry due to the over and uneducated
breeding of excess horses and lack of people being able to afford
them in dips in our economy. Horses are often the first thing people
look to sell when facing a hardship and need money. The easiest and
quickest way to do this is usually to take the horse to an auction.
Auctions are filled with killer buyers and worthless horse traders who
beat, starve, and abuse their horses (not all horse traders are like
this, but let's face it, the majority of them are). To them, the
quickest way to make a horse sellable if it has any training issues or
temperament problems is to beat it out of them rather than addressing
the real problem. Feed is an expense that takes away from profit so
many don't even feed the horses while they have them. The better
traders that do feed and don't even bother trying to fix a horses
problems usually just ship them off to the next sale or trade them with
another trader. None of these circumstances is good for a horse.
We do understand we can't "save" every horse, but I personally don't
see why we can't try to help as many as possible. Over the past several
years, we have purchased horses from auctions to keep them from going
to killer buyers or horse traders and have bought directly from killer
buyers fixing to take a load to slaughter. Understanding we can't save
them all, we pick what we feel to be the best horses we can based on
temperaments, soundness, and training. Imagine your family horse being
sold due to lack of money and excess in bills and it ending up with one
of these traders or on a semi truck about to be shipped off to be
killed.... these are the horses we try to save. In 99% of our cases.
there is nothing at all wrong with the horses, they are generally
sound, healthy and well broke. In the event a horse isn't sound and we
know about it, so will you. If a horse isn't healthy and we know about
it, we do our best to get them well before ever offering them to you.
If the horse isn't safe or has some training issues that need
addressed, we may chose to offer them at that time while we continue to
work with them, but you will know everything we know about the horse.
We don't hide anything to try to pass an imperfect horse off on
you. To insure this and that you are getting the horse you think
you are, we spend the time to get to know our horses. Another huge
difference between us and the everyday horse trader. I have seen
countless times on other websites where a trader has bought a horse at
an auction at 10pm at night and within hours it is on their website
advertising it for sale. In 2 hours, they know NOTHING about this horse
other than color and gender and size. To them though, time is money
which is why they are doing what they do... our focus is the
horse and bettering it's life, not making a quick buck here and there
which inevitably ends in an unhappy and in some cases injured customer
and a horse being passed back around and going back through another
sale. We spend at least 2 weeks with every horse that comes on our
property. Not only does this give any drugs the horse may have been
given a chance to wear off where we can see the real horse, it gives us
time to evaluate the horses in several areas such as training,
temperament, health, and soundness. While the horses are with us, we
"test' them in a variety of different
situations and score each horse on how it does. Where the horse is
lacking, we will work on it until the horse finds a new home. See our
FAQ page for more info on the evaluations we put our horses through.
We are happy to be here to offer you a place to come and find
your next horse where you know what you're buying and where you can
know you're getting a great deal. We remember every horse that has come
through our gates and still hear back from happy customers with updates
and pictures of horses they got from us years ago. Please see our
feedback page for just a few of the comments we get from our customers.
If you're looking for something specific (color, height, breed,
training background) let me know, we have to pass up hundreds of horses
and knowing that one of them might meet what you're looking for might
just save another life.
Hope you enjoy looking
around and that we can help you find your next equine family member.
(Remember to check back often, we get
add new horses all the time!)
