Hi
there! Let me start off by telling you a little about us, who we are & what we do.
My name is Jessica. My husband, mother, and myself run and operate a
horse rescue that is currently in the works of becoming a non-profit
IRS approved 501(c)3 organization. We have been rescueing needy horses
for a little over 3 years now and running almost completely on our own personal
funds. We take in starving, abused, sick, neglected, or simply unwanted
horses and provide them the love and care they deserve. After
rehabilitation and assessments of their personality and training
background we will, in most cases, try to adopt the horse out to a
forever loving home.
To help provide funds to continue the
rescue, we also go to auctions and will try to save as many horses as
we can from going to "killer buyers". Some of these horses are a
little thin, some have minor illnesses, but for the most part, they are
healthy loving horses who just need a home. We will bring these horses
in, assess their personalities and training background as thoroughly as
possible. We normally catch, lead, tie, load, bath, trim, and ride the
horses in about a 2 week period prior to advertising them for sale.
This gives us a pretty good feel for the horse, what it knows, and what
kind of person it would be best suited for as well as lets us watch the
horse in different situations to notice any soundness issues the horse
might have. We have been doing this for a couple of years now and have
seen hundreds of wonderful horses come and go through our gates. I
still remember each and every one of them by name and I'm sure they
will forever remember the love they recieved while here.
In
doing this, we are able to save many of the horses that would otherwise
be bound for slaughter and their lives cut short. We are also able to
provide those of you looking for a wonderful new addition to your
family excellent horses to chose from at very low prices. Any proceeds
made on the purchase price of a horse go directly into saving and care
for other horses both present and future. We are NOT horse traders.
Please don't get us confused with those who are. We take the time to
get to know the horses we offer and treat each of them as a part of our
family. We are also honest about any and every horse on our property
and will disclose everything we know about the horse, both good and
bad.
We are expecting to be approved for non-profit status by Spring of 2008
at which time we will be able to offer tax deductions to those who
contribute in monetary or item donations. In the mean time, we have
several horses to care for and it isn't cheap. We greatly appreciate
all who are willing to donate any items related to horse care as well
as cash donations.
See our rescue page for more info on horses currently in rehab as well as a wish list of needed items!
Thanks!
